Step One
- Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friends friends, or just random journals, or holiday_wishes/wish_list) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My mommy had the idea to write a list of needs and wants...so I am going to do it the same way.
Needs:
-Things for the BeBe, more clothes in the bigger sizes he'll be into next (he's 6-9 now but has enough of those, so I'm starting to stock up on bigger, I especially need 12 month winter gear!)
-Things for the BeBe, more toys! He's getting old enough to really want to play with things now!
-Things for the BeBe, a highchair. He won't be into it quite yet but I do want one for when he's ready to use it!
-Things for the house/BeBe, more interesting/cute things for his room, he'll be moving into it soon!
-Things for the house, lamps! We are dealing with the built-in lighting which excludes the main part of the living room, and the bedroom ones are in the closet just meant to make your clothing visible.
Wants:
-More HK stuff! (In a side note, Scott has said I can get a new HK messenger bag cause the dog ate my Kuromi one which was getting old anyway. Now to see if I can talk him into a new wallet to go with it.)
-More time to spend with my honey and my BeBe. (Yeah I know it really isn't something someone can grant me really...unless they can give me $ to make up for time either me or him spend at home instead of working.)
-A new computer. This one isn't even old but it's starting to feel archaic, oh how I love the quick updating of technology...or even computer parts that might be used to upgrade this one...I do have an empty RAM slot and need for a graphics card. if anyone's got that kind of stuff laying around.
-Tattoos, and maybe piercings. Scott and I are going to get tattoos (though I think he might just get some of his work that needs fixing done) when our taxes come. But that's just one...and I have a MILLION things I plan to do.
-New clothes that flatter my new body. Having a baby changes how you look...and even though I weigh the exact same now as I did before Benji, everything fits differently. Half of my wardrobe is just wrong now.
-Britney's new special fan edition of her Singles Collection, and the For the Record DVD.
